SENIOR DIVISION GRAND CHAMPIONS


Each year, the two grand champions from the York County Science and Engineering Fair go onto compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair. This year, the grand champions will be going to Los Angeles, California for the International Competition in May.


One of the Grand Champions of the 2010 York County Science and Engineering Fair has a project in the category of Medicine. The student attends Central York school district and worked on a project titled Evaluation of Transdermally Delivered Aspirin.  One of the Grand Champions for the 2011 York County Science and Engineering Fair is Purnima Malik.  Purnima received the Air Force Research Laboratory Award at the International Fair in the amount of $3000 and a First Award from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Society for $200.


The other Grand Champions of the 2011 York County Science and Engineering Fair has a project in the category of Energy and Transportation. The student attends Central York school district and worked on a project titled Maximizing Algal Growth and Lipid Yields through Varying Iron3+ Concentration and Bioavailability:  A Continued Investigation on Finding Optimal Growing Conditions for Scenedesmus sp. for Biofuel Production.  The other Grand Champion for the 2011 York County Science and Engineering Fair is Yanqi Tyson Chen. Yanqi received a Third Award from Grand Awards, Energy and Transportation in the amount of $1000.
